“Cannon went from a horse who would bolt under saddle to a willing, relaxed partner, once we learned how to understand her body, not just ride her.” - Eddie Eskra
My family got into the horse world and quickly realized it was a drastically different experience than we had anticipated. Over time, we began to understand that there are many effective ways to engage with a horse—and many that can negatively affect their performance, health, behavior, and longevity. We learned that each horse is as individual as a human, and their trust and well-being depend heavily on us as their protector, provider, and partner.
When we first contacted Krystal, we were looking for help with topline and bodywork for our horse, Cannon. We knew there were issues with her balance and conformation, but we didn’t know where to begin. Cannon had only recently been started under saddle and was struggling—showing signs of discomfort and unpredictable behavior. We assumed it was saddle fit. A vet assessment ruled out ulcers, spinal issues, and other obvious causes, leaving us without answers.
Krystal uncovered much more. She identified deeper, underlying issues that were likely present long before we owned Cannon. Not only did she treat her, but she also taught us how to help—how to release tension, recognize discomfort, and guide Cannon to move in ways that supported her own body.
The results went far beyond physical improvement. The work strengthened our relationship and changed how we understood her. Cannon went from a horse who would take off when mounted to one who is willing, calm, and genuinely comfortable in her work. We learned how to read her body language and communicate in a way she could understand.
The horse world is so much more than getting a horse to do what you want. Krystal showed us that when you listen to your horse, you don’t just gain performance—you build a healthy, lasting partnership.
We are incredibly grateful for everything Krystal has done for Cannon, and we know she will remain part of our journey moving forward.
